Class Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Instructor Availability: 8 Hours per Day
Daily Operations Overview
Field operations training is a critical component of the Heavy Equipment Operator Program. To ensure all students receive sufficient time and exposure on various machines, the following expectations and procedures have been established.
Daily Schedule and Expectations
• Start Time: Class begins promptly at 7:30 a.m. in the simulation room. All students must be on time and ready to participate.
• Instructor Hours: Instructors are available for 8 hours each day to support instruction and machine operation.
• Lunch Breaks: o Lunch will be taken on a rotating basis depending on machine availability and student scheduling.
o Lunch breaks should not exceed 30 minutes.
o Students are expected to procure and return with their lunch promptly to maximize operating time for everyone.
Equipment Operation
• Machine Time Limits: Due to class size and equipment availability, individual machine operation sessions will be limited to 45 minutes to 1 hour per turn.
• Be Prepared: Students must remain ready and available throughout the day. Instructors work continuously to ensure everyone gets time on multiple types of equipment, and efficiency is critical.
• Patience and Readiness: Students are expected to be patient and alert.
Attendance and Punctuality Policy
• Mandatory Attendance: Consistent attendance is required for successful completion of the program.
• Punctuality: o Students must be on time for class each morning and after lunch.
o Being late may result in loss of operating time and potentially being sent home for the day.
